Short answer: Canny prices by tracked users, so the bill follows your community. On Pro, 500 voters cost $279 a month billed yearly, and 2,000 voters cost $729 a month. Past 5,000 voters you need a custom Business quote. The cheapest boards are Upvoty ($15 a month) and Nolt ($348 a year), and neither charges per voter. FeatureOS charges per seat bundle ($600 a year for 5 seats), so its price stays flat no matter how many customers vote. If fewer than 25 people will ever vote, Canny Free costs nothing.
We make FeatureOS, one of the tools below, so check our numbers against the linked pricing pages. Every price was checked on the vendor's live pricing page on 2026-11-06.
This post answers one question: what does a feedback tool cost once real customers start voting? For a feature-by-feature list, see Canny alternatives compared. For Canny's plans on their own, see Canny pricing 2026. For free options, see free Canny alternatives.
Why Canny gets expensive as you grow
Canny bills on tracked users: anyone who posts, votes or comments. The pricing page has a slider, and the Pro price moves with it. Pro also caps managers (your team seats) at 10.
| Tracked users | Canny Pro, billed yearly |
|---|---|
| 25 | $0 (Free plan) |
| 100 | $79/mo |
| 500 | $279/mo |
| 1,000 | $529/mo |
| 2,000 | $729/mo |
| 5,000 | $1,079/mo |
| Over 5,000 | Business, custom quote |
Source: canny.io/pricing, checked 2026-11-06. The page shows Pro at $79/mo billed yearly; the higher tiers come from its tracked-users slider. We found no monthly-billing price on the page, so we use yearly figures throughout.
Two rules from Canny's pricing FAQ matter here. If you pass your tracked-user limit without a spend limit set, Canny moves you up a tier automatically and charges the prorated difference. If you do set a spend limit, Canny stops tracking feedback from new users once you hit it. Either way, a launch or a viral post can raise your bill, or quietly stop new customers from being counted.
The Free plan (25 tracked users, 5 managers) is a real free plan, and Pro at 100 tracked users is $79 a month. For a small, private beta, Canny is cheap.

Worked cost: three team sizes, three community sizes
Here is what each tool costs per year in three common setups. We used annual billing where the vendor publishes an annual price, and the cheapest plan that fits the seat count. Seat-priced tools don't change with voters, and Canny doesn't change with seats (up to its 10-manager cap on Pro), so each row combines the two.
| Scenario | Canny | Featurebase (Growth) | FeatureOS | ProductLift | Nolt (Essential) | Upvoty (Power) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 seats, 500 voters | $3,348 (Pro) | $1,740 | $600 (Starter) | $588 (Pro) | $348 | $180 |
| 10 seats, 2,000 voters | $8,748 (Pro) | $3,480 | $1,200 (Growth) | $1,488 (Pro + 5 members) | $348 | $180 |
| 15 seats, 10,000 voters | Custom (Business) | $5,220 | $2,500 (Business) | $1,548 (Business) | $348 | $180 |
How we got each number:
- Canny: slider price per month (billed yearly), times 12. 10,000 tracked users and 15 managers are both past Pro's limits, so that row needs a Business quote.
- Featurebase: $29 per seat per month as shown on the page, times seats, times 12. Growth includes 5 feedback boards.
- FeatureOS: published annual price for the bundle that fits. Beyond 15 seats, each extra seat is $15 a month.
- ProductLift: Pro ($588/yr, 5 members) for 5 seats; Pro plus five members at $15 a month for 10 seats; Business ($1,548/yr, 25 members) for 15 seats.
- Nolt and Upvoty: flat plans with no seat or voter limits, so the price doesn't move. Nolt Essential covers 1 board (Pro is $828/yr for 5). Upvoty's page shows monthly prices only, so we used $15 × 12; it advertises 10% off for annual billing without listing the figure.
What the numbers show
Upvoty and Nolt are the cheapest by a wide margin. If you need a public voting board and a roadmap view, and nothing else, they cost a fraction of everything else here. Their limit is scope: Upvoty Power covers one project and Nolt Essential one board, and neither lists a knowledge base or surveys.
ProductLift beats FeatureOS at 5 and 15 seats. It undercuts us by $12 a year at 5 seats and by $952 a year at 15. At 10 seats FeatureOS is cheaper ($1,200 vs $1,488). ProductLift includes voting, roadmap and changelog, and its per-member add-on makes small teams very cheap.
Featurebase is per seat, so it grows with your team, not your community. That is better than Canny for a busy board, but at 10 seats the Growth plan already costs $3,480 a year. Featurebase also bundles support tooling (inbox, live chat, AI agent), so part of what you pay for is a helpdesk. If you want that too, the comparison changes. See FeatureOS vs Featurebase.
Canny is the most expensive once voters pass a few hundred, and the only tool here where a busy month can change the bill. Below 25 tracked users it is free.
Where FeatureOS fits
FeatureOS charges for team seats in bundles: Starter $60 a month for 5 seats, Growth $120 for 10, Business $250 for 15, and $15 a month for each seat beyond that. Annual billing is $600, $1,200 and $2,500. Voters, commenters and customers are never billed, so going from 500 to 10,000 voters costs nothing extra.
Each bundle includes feedback boards, roadmaps, a changelog, a knowledge base and forms and surveys. If you would otherwise pay for a voting board plus a separate docs or changelog tool, compare the combined bill, not just the board.
What we don't have: a free plan. You get a 14-day trial, and the Startup Program gives 6 months free on Starter. If 25 voters is all you'll ever have, stay on Canny Free.
Full plan details are on our pricing page. For a direct comparison, see FeatureOS vs Canny.
Which one to pick on cost
- Under 25 voters, ever: Canny Free costs $0.
- Hundreds or more voters: a seat-priced or flat-rate tool keeps the bill flat as voters grow; Canny Pro does not.
