The best customer survey tool depends on where you ask. For forms and one-off surveys, Typeform, SurveyMonkey or the free Google Forms do the job. For in-app NPS and CSAT in a SaaS product, Refiner and Survicate are built for it. For enterprise research, Qualtrics. If you want surveys next to a feature request board and roadmap, Featurebase and FeatureOS both bundle them, though FeatureOS surveys are still in beta.

We make FeatureOS, so weigh our view of it accordingly. Every price below was checked on the vendor's own pricing page on November 4, 2026, with the billing basis noted. Prices change; follow the links before you buy.

How to pick a survey tool

Answer three questions first:

  1. Where will people answer? A link in an email, a popup on your website, or inside your app. In-app surveys need a tool with a widget or SDK (Refiner, Survicate, Featurebase, FeatureOS).
  2. What happens to the answers? If they feed a research report, pick a survey specialist. If they should become feature requests on a roadmap, pick a tool that connects the two.
  3. How is it priced? Per user (SurveyMonkey), per response (Typeform, Survicate), per monthly active user (Refiner) or per team seat (FeatureOS). The cheapest tool at 100 responses is rarely the cheapest at 10,000.

1. Typeform

Typeform shows one question at a time, which makes long forms feel short. It is the pick when the look of the form matters.

  • Pricing: Basic is $39/month billed monthly or $28/month billed yearly with 100 responses a month and 1 seat. Plus is $79 ($56 yearly) with 1,000 responses and 3 seats; Business $129 ($91 yearly) with 10,000 responses and 5 seats. A free plan with limited responses exists. On the day we checked, Typeform's comparison table showed lower figures than its plan cards (for example, Basic at $29 monthly), so confirm at checkout.
  • Good at: design, logic jumps, a wide set of integrations.
  • Watch out for: response caps on every plan.

2. SurveyMonkey

SurveyMonkey is the general-purpose survey tool most people have already used. It has a free Basic plan and paid plans for individuals and teams.

  • Pricing: SurveyMonkey shows prices in the visitor's local currency, so we do not quote a USD figure. Team plans (Team Advantage, Team Premier) are priced per user, billed annually, from 3 users, with an annual response allowance. Enterprise is quote-based.
  • Good at: templates, question types, analysis, a familiar brand for respondents.
  • Watch out for: per-user pricing adds up for larger teams.

3. Google Forms

Google Forms is free with a Google account and fine for internal surveys, event sign-ups and quick polls. Responses land in Google Sheets.

  • Good at: zero cost, zero setup.
  • Watch out for: no in-app widget, no NPS reporting, basic branding. You build NPS as a 0-10 linear scale and calculate the score yourself (our NPS calculator does the math).

4. Qualtrics

Qualtrics is an enterprise experience-management platform for market research, CX and employee surveys.

  • Pricing: not published. Every product shows "Request Pricing". CX and research products are priced on interactions; employee experience on employee count.
  • Good at: research-grade survey design and analysis at large scale.
  • Watch out for: a sales process and enterprise budget.

5. SurveySparrow

SurveySparrow offers chat-style "conversational" surveys plus a CX suite for NPS, CSAT and CES.

  • Pricing: shown in local currency. Forever Free plan for 1 user; Basic (1 user, 2,500 responses), Starter (1 user, 15,000 responses) and Business (3 users, 36,000 responses) are billed quarterly or yearly. Extra users are $49 per user per month.
  • Good at: conversational format, a free plan, extra products (360 assessments, reviews).
  • Watch out for: few users per plan.

6. Refiner

Refiner is built for in-app microsurveys in SaaS products: NPS, CSAT, CES and product-market-fit surveys on web and mobile.

  • Pricing: Essentials $149/month and Growth $279/month, billed monthly at 5,000 monthly active users; price rises with MAU, annual billing saves 17%. Unlimited responses and team members. 30-day trial, then a free plan capped at 25 responses a month.
  • Good at: targeting by user traits, AI tagging of answers, unlimited responses.
  • Watch out for: MAU pricing grows with your user base.

7. Survicate

Survicate runs surveys in your product, on your website, by email and link, and in mobile apps through an SDK, all on every plan.

  • Pricing: Growth $114/month billed annually, Pro $349/month and Enterprise $569/month. A Starter plan is advertised "from $56/mo". The pricing page listed different response limits for Growth in two places when we checked, so confirm before you buy. 10-day trial, no card.
  • Good at: many channels in one tool, integrations with product analytics.
  • Watch out for: response limits on lower plans.
  • Source: survicate.com/pricing, checked 2026-11-04. See FeatureOS vs Survicate.

8. Zonka Feedback

Zonka Feedback is a CX survey platform for collecting feedback across channels, with a separate AI analytics product.

  • Pricing: not published. Feedback Management is quoted by response volume, AI Feedback Intelligence by data credits. 14-day free trial.
  • Good at: multichannel CX programs.
  • Watch out for: no public price to plan around.
  • Source: zonkafeedback.com/pricing, checked 2026-11-04. See FeatureOS vs Zonka Feedback.

9. Featurebase

Featurebase is a feedback board, roadmap and changelog tool that also includes NPS and CSAT surveys on every plan, capped at 500 shows a month on its Free plan, with multi-step conditional surveys from Growth up.

10. FeatureOS

FeatureOS is our product. Its main job is feature requests: voting boards, a public roadmap, a changelog and a knowledge base. Surveys are included on every plan and are currently in beta.

  • Pricing: Starter $60/month billed monthly for 5 seats ($600/year billed annually); pay only for team seats. 14-day free trial.
  • What surveys can do today: text, dropdown, poll, star rating and NPS fields; all questions on one page or one at a time; skip and branch rules in one-at-a-time mode; share by link, embed, email to a user segment, or an in-app widget (popup or inline) targeted by segment, URL and delay. A response can be turned into a feedback post.
  • Watch out for: it is not a full survey suite. There is no Typeform-style logic engine and no research analytics. If surveys are your main feedback channel, pick a specialist above.
  • See forms and surveys or build a draft with the survey generator.

Recommendations by team type

  • Solo founder or small team, one-off surveys: Google Forms or Typeform's free plan.
  • Marketing team running many surveys: SurveyMonkey or SurveySparrow.
  • SaaS growth team running in-app NPS and CSAT: Refiner or Survicate.
  • Enterprise research, CX or HR program: Qualtrics.
  • Product team that wants survey answers to become roadmap items: Featurebase or FeatureOS.

Which survey questions to ask

The tool matters less than the questions. Start with our NPS survey questions and customer feedback survey questions, and read survey vs feedback for when a survey is the wrong tool.
